Continental has introduced ContiConnect Lite, a new app that acts as a gateway to professional tire monitoring using sensor technology and data transfer. The tool is designed to integrate tires into the vehicle network, providing real-time data on tire pressure and temperature.
“ContiConnect Lite is a free app version of our digital tire management solution ContiConnect,” said Clarisa Doval, global head of digital solutions at Continental Tires.
The app extends its functionality via smartphone to digital tire monitoring for various applications, including agricultural, earthmoving and port operation tires. The company says it can also be utilized for smaller fleets using intelligent tires or Gen2 sensors, as it requires no additional hardware for implementation.
“After the self-registration is complete, the vehicle can be modified and connected via Bluetooth,” added Doval. This then enables access to a limited version of the ContiConnect On-Site app. In total, five vehicles and three users can be registered free of charge.
With real-time tire data, drivers can monitor tire conditions for predictive maintenance, aiming to reduce costs, save energy and minimize emissions.
Since August 2023, Continental has been outfitting its Conti Urban tire family with latest-generation sensors. Doval continued, “Integrating the new Conti Urban tire into our ContiConnect digital tire management platform enables both municipalities and public transport operators to provide a dependable, efficient and eco-friendly public transportation system.
“Data indicates that ContiConnect can slash tire punctures by approximately 30% for users, yield a 2% saving in fuel and boost tire lifespan by around 10%,” she concluded.
